New project-based school to offer unique learning options emphasizing the importance of arts and technology in education.
PALMDALE, CA, April 24, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Antelope Valley Union High School District approved the first TK-12 charter for a project-based arts and technology school, Synergy School of Arts & Technology. This new school is set to open in Fall 2023 and will begin by serving grades TK-5. Potential students in other grades are encouraged to complete an interest form. Additional grade levels will be considered based on enrollment and funding.
The school will offer learners State Standards-based learning programs with a curriculum built around music (piano, guitar, choir, etc.), drama (acting, playwriting, etc.), VR/AR learning and production development (video, film, etc.), gaming science and development (coding, etc.), and dance (cultural, ballet, hip hop) and other performing and fine arts. This school is unique because those topics will be part of the regular academic day and not just an after-school activity.
According to the lead petitioner, Dr. Derrick Spiva, “Learners who participate in the arts have better attendance, are less likely to drop out, and are more likely to attend college. Arts and technology are often after-thoughts and neglected in traditional education systems.”
Synergy School of Arts & Technology is accepting applications for the Fall 2023 school year. The school is committed to providing learners with a caring, safe, and personalized learning environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and critical thinking skills.
Interested families can visit the school’s website at https://synergyartstech.org to learn more about the school and join the interest list.
