Alliance reinforces the urgency for action today to ensure the long-term viability of the program for tomorrow

WASHINGTON, DC, March 28, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The ADAP Advocacy Association today announced it has joined the Alliance to Save America’s 340B Program (ASAP 340B), which is a partnership of community health centers, patient, provider, and consumer advocates, and leaders from the biopharmaceutical industry working to ensure the 340B program supports true safety-net providers and the communities they serve. ASAP 340B reflects a growing chorus calling for accountability and transparency reforms.

Summarized ADAP Advocacy Association’s CEO, Brandon M. Macsata: “340B plays a vital role in delivering needed access to services and supports for people living with HIV/AIDS under the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, and our involvement in this new unlikely alliance mirrors our commitment to ensuring the program remains strong. Too many hospitals and mega service providers have abused the program for too long, and it is time for some patient-centric reforms to return the program to its original legislative intent.”

ASAP 340B and its partners will advocate for clear, practical, and achievable solutions to ensure the 340B program can be a force for good in the nation’s safety net. Its policy principles reflect the consensus of our members and will guide efforts to realign the 340B program in the interest of true safety-net providers and the communities they serve.

Wanda Brendle-Moss, ADAP Advocacy Association board member and HIV long-term survivor added: “As a North Carolina resident, I witness first-hand how more needs to be done to expand access to care – especially in our more rural areas. It is a sad indictment when hospital charity care is declining at the very same time 340B rebates are going up. The program was designed to help people like me, not pad hospital and agency executive compensation, and even more so during a time patients are carrying an unprecedented amount of medical debt. This needs to change and that’s where ASAP 340B comes in!”
