New assessment evaluates software giving more weight to collaboration enablement and focus

BEND, OR, April 18, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ — Ventana Research today released its 2019 Value Index for Collaborative Analytics and Business Intelligence, a quantified, research-based index evaluating technology providers and products. The latest variant of this Value Index assesses analytic product adequacy across a broad range of requirements with a particular focus on the enablement of collaboration and action.

With this Value Index, business and IT organizations utilizing analytics and business intelligence directly in business processes and applications will be able to evaluate Business Intelligence software and examine vendors’ offerings in the context of their own workflow and collaboration initiatives. Leveraging more than three decades of experience and knowledge of the market for data and analytics, Ventana Research’s Value Indexes provide in-depth analyses of technology suppliers’ products and evaluate their differences.

The Value Index for Collaborative Analytics and Business Intelligence is based on a comprehensive examination of fifteen vendors’ products in seven evaluation categories, five that evaluate the products’ ability to support the breadth and depth of business needs around analytics and two that address vendor validation and total cost of ownership/return on investment. The 2019 Value Index for Collaborative Analytics and Business Intelligence identifies the companies that deliver the highest value based on an overall weighted evaluation. The Overall Value Index Leaders in the 2019 Value Index are IBM, Information Builders, and Yellowfin. All vendors included in the Value Index were required to offer Analytics and Business Intelligence software with collaborative capabilities that could be applied across all lines of business.

The Value Index assesses the effectiveness of each vendor’s support for the buying process and customer assurance. The Value Index is not just a selection of “cool” products or latest features; the Value Index provides specific numerical ratings, both overall and for each of the seven components of the Value Index, for technology buyers to consider instead of evaluating a vendor primarily on its vision or market execution. Organizations can use the Value Index as a guide to assess existing systems and providers to determine if their provider best meets their needs today and in the future.

“The best decisions are not made by just one individual’s knowledge and experiences,” said David Menninger, SVP and Research Director at Ventana Research. “Collaboration around business analytics and intelligence yield a deeper dive and better insights on next-steps. Providing collaborative capabilities enables businesses to maximize their analytics investments, facilitating communication, reducing time to execute, reducing errors, and more.”

Collaboration and teamwork around analytics are mission-critical to many decision-makers and businesses. As such, Ventana Research believes this adjusted Value Index provides a unique view specific to collaboration requirements that was not fully reflected in the Overall Value Index on Analytics and Business Intelligence. Like the Overall, Mobile, and Embedded Analytics & Business Intelligence Value Indexes, the Collaborative Analytics & Business Intelligence Value Index is neither sponsored nor influenced by technology vendors and is conducted solely in pursuit of Ventana Research’s vision to illuminate the value of technology through unique insights.
