CHICAGO, IL, August 30, 2025 /24-7PressRelease/ — The Chicago, IL divorce lawyers at Merel Family Law are excited to announce a large merit scholarship for a deserving family law student. Applications for Merel Family Law’s Future of Chicago Family Law Scholarship are open to promising undergraduate students who plan to focus on family law after graduating from law school.
All students enrolled in a post-secondary undergraduate program are encouraged to apply for The Merel Future of Chicago Family Law Scholarship. The eligibility criteria for the $5,000 award are as follows:
· Must be in good academic standing with your current college or university
· Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above required
· Preferred applicants plan to enroll in law school, with an intention to practice family law upon graduation
Applicants must be able to explain how they plan to use their education and legal training to support families and individuals in a family law matter. Ideal applicants will balance keen legal insight with compassion for people facing these deeply personal legal situations.
A 1,000-word essay is also required with the application. The essay should explain why the applicant chose to pursue a family law focus and what inspired them to achieve their academic goals.
Required materials for submission are as follows:
· Current academic resume and transcript
· Essay (up to 1,000 words) responding to the prompt above
· All application materials must be received by August 31, 2026.
