Jenner Law Proudly awards Galin Dishoyan and Derek Wilson with $2,500 each to help pay for their education.

With this in mind, we created the ‘Make a Difference’ Scholarship to help the next generation of leaders get the education they need. We are proud to offer this yearly scholarship to deserving students looking to make a positive difference in the world.
This year, we are happy to announce Galin Dishoyan and Derek Wilson as the winners of our 2023 ‘Make a Difference’ Scholarship. Our winners come from different backgrounds but share a common passion for creating a brighter future. Both Galin and Derek have overcome extreme personal hardships, and their past struggles fuel their desire to build a better tomorrow.
Out of more than 1,500 applications from both graduate and undergraduate students, Galin and Derek were chosen as winners based on their exemplary academic performance and compelling essays.
Galin Dishoyan is an Armenian, who was born and raised in Aleppo, Syria. Her essay told the harrowing story of her journey from Aleppo to Beirut when she was seventeen years old. She relayed how this experience, along with living in a war-torn Aleppo for four years, shaped her life and inspired her to fight for the rights of marginalized groups through a career as a human rights lawyer.
This scholarship will help her pay for her schooling to get her law degree as a graduate student at Seton Hall Law School.
Derek Wilson is a veteran of the United States Air Force who served five tours of duty as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom before being medically retired after suffering service-related injuries. After struggling to reintegrate into civilian life after leaving the military like so many other veterans, Derek managed to get back on his feet and has since helped many others in similar situations to do the same.
This scholarship will help him pay for his schooling as he pursues an undergraduate degree at Arizona State University.
